I Started Drawing Again — Thanks to This Sketch

I wanted to restart my art career, making illustrations again, and selling stickers. One day, I sat on the bed and started drawing whatever came to mind.

I drew this blonde girl with a brown skirt and a shirt that appears to be made of latex or something.

Well, I drew it in real life in my recently bought sketchbook, as I mentioned in the post about my recent art project for this Halloween

Something I always like is drawing girls, and I don’t think of myself as bad with the human body. I always try to draw cool poses or something that might say “she is an E-girl” or similar. I just love the theme.

Sure, to me it’s a good drawing, it was the first one I made after 2 years of focusing on my work as a Wedding Photographer.

It’s not that I didn’t draw anything these past two years, I just didn’t want anything with social media or “trying to make your hobby bring food to the table”

But I found an offer for cheap sketchbooks one day, and a video with the title “I Tried Posting Every Day for 90 Days… Here’s What I Learned”, and I took it as a signal to start drawing again.

I sat in the bed, with the TV on in the background, and listening to music

— Just draw whatever, something, doesn’t matter if it’s good

After one or two hours, I found myself with a drawing.

I was expecting weird, I was ready for ugly, and then reality just hit me

It was not that bad, the girl looked even cool. —

Then came an email: “You sold a Sticker.” That brings more happiness to the equation. In two years, I haven’t made a single sale, and all of a sudden, I got 60 cents.

It’s not about becoming rich with that, but that somebody somewhere, like my art, is enough to buy something from me.

It wasn’t the first time I was active in sites for commissions and Print on Demand before, I just had given up on the idea that I had an opportunity to live off this.

To me, at the moment of writing this post, I have one single idea: “You have 90 days, but one single like makes it worth it”

Why just one? I do regret not drawing anything in two years, but now I have a way to get food without relying on art, which gives me enough time to make art.

Having that kind of security just makes it easier on the mind.
